Dr. Wanner grew up on the east coast where she started riding horses at 8 years old. As a junior, she competed in the equitation and junior hunter arenas, but schooled in dressage as well. Even as a junior rider, she had an interest in performance limiting conditions affecting the sport horse. She studied English literature at Drew University in New Jersey and competed on the varsity equestrian team. She relocated to Massachusetts where she earned an MBA and studied the sciences required to attend veterinary school.
She went to Ross University Veterinary School and completed her clinical year at Colorado State University. After veterinary school, she interned at Fairfield Equine Associates in Newtown, Connecticut. This opportunity allowed her to concentrate on all aspects of veterinary medicine associated with the sport horse including thorough lameness exams, radiology, ultrasonography, pre-purchase exams, bone scans and MRI. After her internship she spent a year working as an associate for a veterinarian in California before joining up with Dr. David Robertson to form Select Equine Veterinary Services.
Dr. Wanner involves herself in all aspects of equine veterinary medicine and immensely enjoys the challenges unique to the sport horse. She has also taken on the care of local sheep and goats. She continues to ride and is looking forward to getting back into the competitive arena.
